The Assistant Merchant is the foundation of the merchandising organization: supporting every part of the selling process from assortment curation and sample management to in season business reporting and analysis. The definitive “left brain/right brain” role: the Assistant Merchant is able to analyze data, deep dive into the numbers, and be highly detailed while helping to curate product and understand “where the puck is going.”

 

This self-starting and action-oriented individual is often the first point of contact for cross functional teams looking for accurate and detailed information. We’re looking for someone who truly wants to own their business and help push the Brand to new heights.

Responsibilities

  • Sample management: Responsible for taking delivery and checking in samples; inspecting and ensuring all details of the garment are correct; and organized sample storage, archiving, and sharing. Also responsible for attending technical fit meetings and taking accurate and detailed fit and/or trim change notes.
  • Business reporting and analysis: Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of Monday business reports; both standard reporting and ad-hoc analysis for management. Identify areas of opportunity and concern. What is happening and what are we doing about it?
  • Seasonal assortment curation: Partner with head merchants and design team to assort seasonal product lines. Includes pre-development SKU planning using current business trends and the analysis of the womenswear market and competitors to identify potential growth opportunities and weaknesses.
  • PLM database management: Responsible for management of our product lifecycle database.
  • Ecommerce management: Partner with Ecommerce merchandising team for bi-weekly product launch and live site management. Ensure product is depicted accurately and proudly in our FLAGSHIP STORE (BrooksBrothers.com).
  • Cross functional communication: Help liaise between merchandising and cross functional teams (Design, Marketing, Planning, Wholesale, etc.); accurately/effectively communicate relevant information to appropriate teams.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and projects in support of management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong understanding of and passion for the specialty womenswear market
  • Understand the power of “the Brand” and passion for Brooks Brothers
  • Positive attitude and the ability to foster collaborative cross functional relationships
  • Action oriented and a true “do-er”
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strong Excel skills

Requirements & EEO Statement

The salary range for this position is $62,400 to $65,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to position offered and work experience. In addition to your salary, SPARC Group, and its affiliated brands, offers a benefits package, including 401(k) plan, overtime pay, flexible work schedule and a generous employee discount program (all benefits are based on eligibility).
